Control of Funds
LAUSD maintains and administers the control of funds provided under Title I and title and control of materials, equipment and property purchased with such funds. The services under Title I are provided by employees of LAUSD or through a third party provider.
In order to generate funds to eligible private school children the student must reside in a LAUSD Title I attendance area. If the private school has a free or reduced-price meal eligibility program, the private school submits the addresses and grade level of the students that qualify for the meal program at their school. If the private school does not have a free or reduced price meal eligibility program, the private school sends home a survey which contains comparable data to the meal plan application. The school collects the surveys and submits the addresses and grade level of the students who qualify under survey data.

The identification of students for services is not based on poverty.
The student must reside in a LAUSD Title I attendance area.
Students are identified by the private school based on a minimum of two educationally related measures that determine below grade level performance. From this pool of eligible students, and in consultation with the private school, the Title I PSP teacher selects the students for supplemental service who are most at risk of failing.
