Welcome to the LAUSD IB Interested Schools Group Page!
In 2007, the District sponsored an orientation meeting to assess the level of interest in learning more about an international education program for students ages 3 to 19 years called International Baccalaureate. The Program has three independent programs known as Primary, Middle and Diploma Programmes.
LAUSD interest in the program has been steady. We have evolved into a cadre of schools known as the IB Interested Schools Group. With each academic year, we have attempted to add more schools in clearly articulated feeder patterns. Since November 2008, nearly 500 teachers and administrators in 20 PreK-12 schools have received face to face training at regional, training in other states and local On Site professional development. There are now 15 schools at various stages of Primary Years (ages 3-12) and Middle Years (ages 11-16) implementation in the IB Interested Schools Group.
Schools are either:
Getting started and determining the feasibility of further participation
Working towards candidacy after months of considering, training and implementing
Preparing for authorization visits to be approved as IB World Schools
Eagle Rock Jr./Sr. HS is the District's first fully authorized IB MYP school.

LAUSD Interested Schools Group Mission:
The LAUSD International Baccalaureate (IB) Interested Schools Group is a collaboration of schools including early education, elementary, middle and high schools organized into professional learning communities and are interested in qualifying to become IB World Schools. The schools design IB strategies that support rigorous teaching, learning and assessments and develop international-mindedness, critical thought, intercultural understanding and responsible citizenship in all students.
International Baccalaureate Mission Statement:
The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.
These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
