The Educational Equity Compliance Office serves as the office for civil rights for students and parents/guardians. It has District-wide responsibilities to ensure that all students are treated equitably in the District's programs and activities and provided an environment that is free from discrimination, harassment, intimidation and/or bullying including, but not limited to all aspects of Section 504, Title VI, and Title IX compliance, as well as Uniform Complaint Procedures and Williams/Valenzuela Complaints.
It is the law and District policy to afford equal rights and opportunities to all persons to attend school and participate in the District's programs and activities, regardless of actual or perceived sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, gender expression, race or ethnicity, ethnic group identification, ancenstry, nationality, national origin, religion, color, mental or physical disability, age, or on the basis of a person's association with a person or group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics, or any other basis protected by federal, state, local law, ordinance, or regulation.
The Educational Equity Compliance Office has the responsibility for developing and/or revising required District policies/procedures to be disseminated on a District-wide basis. Additionally, the Educational Equity Compliance Office provides telephone and on-site technicial assistance/trainings and support to individual students, parents/guardians, community, school sites, Education Service Centers, and central office on harassment, discrimination, intimidation and/or bullying issues; respond to and investigate harassment, discrimination, intimidation and/or bullying complaint allegations, Section 504 complaints, UCP complaints, and Williams/Valenzuela complaints; and categorical program monitoring reviews for our schools.
