Overview

In its efforts to prepare students to meet the demands of the future workforce, the Los Angeles Unified School District has developed and/or sponsored Career Academies located in its senior high schools. Data gathered from these programs support findings that the academy model for instructional organization at the senior high level fosters improved student motivation, attendance, interest, and achievement.

It is important to remember that a Career Academy is a program, not a place, that engages youth by integrating their academic instruction into career content that gives students a context and purpose for learning. For more information on creating and improving Career Academy programs, please see related links on this page.

Qualified Zone Academy Bonds

QZABs are a great resource with which Career Academies can enhance their programs by renovating their existing facilities, improving existing technology and infrastructure and purchasing appropriate equipment that will make academy students' learning experiences more "real world."
