Overview
Ready for School (RFS) is designed to develop a comprehensive approach that will assist and support the school readiness of children throughout the Los Angeles Unified School District. To accomplish this, RFS has brought together district, county and community partners to provide central coordination and promote system-wide policy changes while simultaneously implementing Ready For School (RFS) Centers in nine local communities. Each local site addresses the unique needs of its community and builds on existing assets to prepare children age 0-5 for school success.

MISSION: The mission of the LAUSD Ready for School Collaborative is to partner with families, communities and providers to create and sustain a cohesive and inclusive school readiness support system for children 0 to 5 years and their families.

The end result of LAUSD Ready for School is better integrated services for children 0-5 and their families, schools and communities working in closer partnership, and, ultimately, all children entering LAUSD kindergarten classes academically, socially, emotionally and physically ready for school.

WHO'S INVOLVED: Parents and families, nonprofit organizations, child care providers, hospitals, faith-based organizations, businesses and other community groups are involved both in developing local community readiness plans and in delivering the services needed to ensure that every child enters school prepared.

At the local level, elementary schools, early childhood education centers and adult schools are working in partnership with local communities to better coordinate services for children 0-5 and their families.

At the District level, the services of the LAUSD Early Childhood Division, the Special Education Division, the Student Health and Human Services Division and the Division of Adult and Career Education coordinate to better serve children age's 0-5 and their families.

WHERE ARE THE READY FOR SCHOOL CENTERS LOCATED: The LAUSD Ready for School Centers will serve children ages 0-5 and their families in the communities surrounding the following schools:
