Over 17 million pieces of Interoffice and U.S. Mail are processed through the Mail Unit annually. Interoffice mail is sorted and placed in mail bags for next day delivery. U.S. Mail is pre-sorted, bar-coded, and sent to the U.S. Postal Service for delivery. Postage for First Class and Non-profit Permit Mail are paid through a central postage account administered by the Mail Unit. All mail is picked up and delivered daily by Truck Operations.
Mail Pick Up and Delivery Schedule
Truck Operations drivers provide mail pickup and delivery to schools and offices daily between 7:00AM and 2:00PM. All mail received at the Mail Unit, Procurement Services Center prior to 4:30 p.m. is sorted and processed the same day.
If schools and offices miss the regular pickup, outgoing mail may be brought directly to one of the two Mail Unit locations. Mail may be dropped off with the receptionist in the main lobby of the Procurement Services Center in Pico Rivera between 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, or at the Mail Unit Annex at Beaudry Headquarters between 9:30 PM – 12:00 PM. There is a drop slot outside the Annex for after hour mail drop-offs. Mail received at the Annex before 11:00 AM will be postmarked for the next day.
