The Leadership Academy is committed to providing

educational excellence to the students of the

Los Angeles Unified School District by providing

the highest quality professional development opportunities

to those entrusted with the responsibility for leading our schools.

Welcome to the Leadership Academy!

Instructional leadership is the core function of an administrator.  Administrators are expected to be, first and foremost, instructional experts and facilitators of teacher and student learning.  The Leadership Academy curriculum has been designed to prepare administrators to be effective instructional and transformational leaders for Los Angeles Unified schools.  Our curriculum is a living document that adapts to the changes within LAUSD and the nation at large.

Our goal in developing the Leadership Academy programs is to build exemplary leaders by presenting new research based learning, building collective capacities, and strengthening both the knowledge and skills of program participants.  Participating administrators will learn about all functional areas of a school, take initiative for their own learning, and reflect on their leadership practice while demonstrating and modeling effective leadership behaviors.

Leadership is not a destination, but a journey.  Good luck in your travels!

Sincerely,

Gina Smith-De Ville

Director
