PreK-12 Literacy/Language Arts Overview

Since 2000 the District has made significant progress in literacy and language arts to improve student achievement. There are several major elements that have contributed to these substantial gains. The District and Board of Education adopted and have supported rigorous, common, standards-based curricula for all students. The curricula are supported by professional development aligned to the content standards. The District utilizes a periodic assessment system to measure student progress at the end of each instructional unit. The resulting data are used in tandem with multiple measures to inform instruction and intervention.
