Overview of Classification and Compensation

The Classification and Compensation Branch is responsible for the classification of District classified positions which include non-certificated positions. The Commission staff studies duties and responsibilities of classified positions established by the Board of Education and makes recommendations to the Commission regarding the proper classification and compensation. The Personnel Commission is comprised of three persons who have been appointed to serve three-year terms. The Commission employs a Personnel Director and staff members to serve District employees by assuring that their positions are correctly classified. The Personnel Commission meetings, typically held twice a month on Wednesdays at 3:00 p.m. in the Board Room of the Beaudry Building, are open to the public.

The Reclassification by Director’s Approval (RDA) process is used as an expedited procedure for the reclassification of a few selected positions only when certain criteria have met as pre-approved by the Personnel Commission.  To inquire whether your position meets this requirement, please contact the Classification and Compensation Branch at (213) 241-7800.  If you already know that your position fits the criteria, please complete and submit the Reclassification by Director’s Approval (RDA) form (80.6) to Wendy Guzman, Principal Clerk of the Classification and Compensation Branch of the Personnel Commission located on 333 S. Beaudry Avenue, 12th Floor, Los Angeles, CA 90017 or fax to (213) 241-6803 or (213) 241-6804.
