The Classified Employment Transaction Services Branch manages all personnel transactions for classified (non-teaching) positions and teacher assistants. It is the responsibility of the Classified Employment Transaction Services Branch to ensure that all assignment transactions are in compliance with Education Code provisions, Personnel Commission rules, collective bargaining agreements, and District policies and procedures.
The Branch has a staff of 65 employees to serve 28,000 classified positions, 5,000 teacher assistant positions, and more than 5,500 substitute employees. Over 2,000 telephone calls are received each day; dispatching substitutes, resolving problems, and giving specific and general information to principals, managers, employees, and the general public. In an average year, more than 60,000 assignment actions are processed. This does not include the over 45,000 substitute assignments filled on an annual basis.
