Introduction to the Policy

The Discipline Foundation Policy mandates the development of school-wide positive behavior support at every school that includes:
* Defined behavioral expectations that are taught and reinforced
* On-going review of office-referral data for support allocation
* Identification of what behavior is not acceptable at the school site or in school functions
* A three tiered approach for prevention and intervention

It further mandates professional development in:
* School-Wide Positive Behavior Support
* Classroom management
* Supervision of common areas

This policy does not change procedures mandated by law and as delineated by other policy bulletins on student discipline (e.g., Anti-Bullying; Opportunity Transfers; Student Suspensions; Student Expulsions; Hate Crimes; Mandatory Procedures for Students Who Violate Laws regarding Drugs, Alcohol, and Tobacco).
